Women don’t have heart attacks, right? This is a common misconception. The truth is, heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2021, more than 300,000 women died from heart disease. In fact, women are twice as likely to die after a heart attack than men. Missed symptoms and misdiagnosis can cause heart disease that could have otherwise been prevented, which is why it is called the silent killer in women.
